A Prayer in the wee Hours

O one night
Give to me;
One hour
At the shadow of your feet.
To hold
But once
The totality of Creation
The entirety of time
In my wanting palm,
Within the ten fingers
Of my reason --

But a moment
Pray grant me
Under your wing
To nestle -
To know that
One who so found refuge
In the shelter of your hand
Shall nevermore
See death.
